We’re excited to announce that Mathias Chintinne will be joining ABO Global as our new Chief Innovation Officer. He takes over from Peter Verguts, who is stepping down after 10 years of dedication to the company for personal reasons.
Mathias brings 25 years of experience in operational and R&D roles, having worked with leading recycling companies in the Flanders Metals Valley, including Umicore, Campine, and Aurubis. His expertise in metallurgy and slag valorisation is a perfect fit for ABO Global’s mission to drive innovation and sustainability in our industry.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Mathias to the team,” says Jeffrey Alenus, CEO of ABO Global. “From our first meeting, it was clear that Mathias not only has deep expertise and a passion for innovation, but also a strong network within the Flanders Metals Valley. He’ll be a key player as we continue to develop circular solutions and grow our presence in the market.”
In his new role, Mathias will be responsible for shaping our innovation strategy, identifying new opportunities, and exploring new applications for challenging waste and material streams. He’ll also play a key role in fostering collaboration both inside and outside the company to support ABO Global’s continued growth.
“I’m excited to join ABO Global and contribute to strengthening the circular economy of metals and minerals,” says Mathias. “I look forward to tackling tough challenges and finding groundbreaking solutions together with the entire ABO team. As we say at ABO: keep playing when others quit. 💪”
